ZA-27 Zinc-Aluminum Alloy
ZA-27 is a high-aluminum, high-strength zinc-aluminum alloy containing approximately 25–28% aluminum with smaller additions of copper and magnesium. Compared with ZA-8 and ZA-12, it provides higher strength, hardness, and wear resistance while offering lower density, making it suitable for heavily loaded and wear-resistant mechanical components.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Silver-gray to grayish white
Density: Approx. 5.0 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 400–450 MPa, depending on material condition and casting process
Corrosion Resistance: Good
Machinability: Good
Wear Resistance: Excellent
Strength: High
Hardness: High
Load-Bearing Capability: Excellent
Magnetism: Non-magnetic
Surface Finishes: Polishing, painting, powder coating, plating, etc.
Typical Applications
ZA-27 is widely used in automotive, industrial machinery, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, and power transmission systems.
Typical parts include gears, bearings, sleeves, bushings, pulleys, guides, mechanical brackets, and various high-load wear-resistant cast and CNC-machined components.
Advantages
• Very high strength and hardness within the ZA alloy family
• Excellent wear resistance and load-bearing capability
• Lower density than ZA-8 and ZA-12
• Good machinability
• Can replace some bronze, cast-iron, and steel wear components
Limitations
• Lower ductility than lower-aluminum zinc alloys
• Not suitable for prolonged high-temperature service
• Requires careful control of casting temperature and process
• High aluminum content limits the use of conventional hot-chamber die casting
