C932 Bearing Bronze
C932, also known as SAE 660 Bearing Bronze, is a widely used leaded tin bronze known for its good wear resistance, anti-seizure properties, and machinability. It performs reliably under sliding friction and moderate loads, making it a common copper alloy for bearings, bushings, and wear-resistant mechanical components.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Golden-brown to reddish-brown
Density: Approx. 8.9 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 240–310 MPa (depending on material condition)
Corrosion Resistance: Good
Machinability: Good
Wear Resistance: Excellent
Anti-Seizure Performance: Excellent
Electrical Conductivity: Low
Magnetism: Non-magnetic
Surface Finishes: Polishing, grinding, nickel plating, etc.
Typical Applications
C932 Bearing Bronze is widely used in industrial machinery, automotive, construction equipment, pumps and valves, agricultural machinery, and power transmission systems.
Typical parts include sleeve bearings, bushings, thrust washers, guide sleeves, gears, pump components, and wear-resistant CNC machined parts.
Advantages
• Excellent wear and anti-seizure properties
• Good machinability
• Good load-bearing and friction performance
• Some tolerance for imperfect lubrication
• Ideal for bearings, bushings, and sliding components
Limitations
• Lower strength than some high-strength copper alloys and steels
• Much lower electrical and thermal conductivity than pure copper
• Contains lead, requiring regulatory review for food, drinking-water, and restricted-substance applications
• Not ideal for extremely high-load or very high-speed bearing applications
