Zamak 7
Zamak 7 is a high-purity zinc-aluminum alloy developed from Zamak 3 with tighter impurity control and adjusted magnesium content. It offers excellent fluidity, ductility, and die-casting performance, making it particularly suitable for thin-wall, complex, and high-surface-quality precision die-cast components.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Silver-gray to bright silver-gray
Density: Approx. 6.6 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 280 MPa, depending on condition and manufacturing process
Corrosion Resistance: Moderate to Good
Machinability: Good
Die Castability: Excellent
Fluidity: Excellent
Ductility: Excellent
Magnetism: Non-magnetic
Surface Finishes: Polishing, electroplating, painting, powder coating, passivation, etc.
Typical Applications
Zamak 7 is widely used in electrical and electronics, automotive, consumer electronics, home appliances, precision hardware, and decorative components.
Typical parts include thin-wall housings, connector housings, precision brackets, handles, knobs, decorative parts, electronic equipment structures, and complex precision die-cast components.
Advantages
• Excellent die-casting fluidity
• Good ductility
• Particularly suitable for complex and thin-wall components
• Excellent surface quality for plating and decorative finishes
• Capable of achieving high dimensional accuracy
Limitations
• Lower strength and hardness than Zamak 2 and Zamak 5
• Not suitable for prolonged high-temperature service
• Relatively high density for lightweight applications
• Requires good control of material purity and die-casting conditions
