C510 Phosphor Bronze
C510 is a widely used tin-phosphor bronze offering good strength, elasticity, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. Compared with conventional brass, C510 provides better fatigue and spring properties while maintaining useful electrical conductivity, making it particularly suitable for precision components subjected to repeated flexing, elastic contact, or long-term friction.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Reddish-brown to golden-brown
Density: Approx. 8.8 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 380–760 MPa (depending on material condition)
Corrosion Resistance: Good
Machinability: Moderate
Wear Resistance: Good
Elasticity: Excellent
Fatigue Resistance: Excellent
Electrical Conductivity: Moderate
Magnetism: Non-magnetic
Surface Finishes: Polishing, nickel plating, tin plating, silver plating, etc.
Typical Applications
C510 Phosphor Bronze is widely used in electrical and electronics, automotive, telecommunications, precision instruments, industrial machinery, and connector systems.
Typical parts include springs, spring contacts, connectors, electrical contacts, terminals, bushings, washers, precision fasteners, and wear-resistant CNC components.
Advantages
• Good strength and elasticity
• Excellent fatigue resistance
• Good wear and corrosion resistance
• Good balance of mechanical properties and electrical conductivity
• Particularly suitable for springs and elastic-contact components
Limitations
• Lower CNC machinability than free-cutting brass such as C360
• Lower electrical conductivity than pure copper
• Generally more expensive than conventional brass
• Not ideal when maximum conductivity or extremely high load capacity is required
