ZK60 Magnesium Alloy
ZK60 is a high-strength magnesium-zinc-zirconium wrought alloy known for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, good toughness, and fatigue performance. Compared with AZ31B and AZ91D, ZK60 provides higher mechanical strength and is well suited for aerospace and high-performance lightweight structures.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Silver-white to light gray
Density: Approx. 1.83 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 300–370 MPa, depending on condition and heat treatment
Corrosion Resistance: Moderate
Machinability: Good
Weldability: Moderate to low
Fatigue Performance: Good
Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Excellent
Surface Finishes: Chemical conversion coating, anodizing, bead blasting, painting, powder coating, etc.
Typical Applications
ZK60 is widely used in aerospace, UAVs, motorsports, sporting equipment, industrial machinery, and high-performance lightweight systems.
Typical parts include aerospace structures, UAV frames, high-strength brackets, connectors, wheels, robotic components, and high-load precision CNC parts.
Advantages
• High strength and excellent strength-to-weight ratio
• Good fatigue performance and toughness
• Good CNC machinability
• Suitable for high-performance lightweight structures
• Significantly stronger than conventional AZ31B
Limitations
• Limited corrosion resistance
• Moderate weldability
• Relatively high material cost
• Requires more careful machining and surface protection than common magnesium alloys
