Nickel 200
Nickel 200 is a commercially pure wrought nickel grade containing typically at least 99.0% nickel. It offers good corrosion resistance, electrical and thermal conductivity, and useful mechanical properties. Its particularly strong resistance to many alkaline environments makes it widely used in chemical processing, electronics, electrical systems, and food-processing equipment.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Silvery white to silver-gray
Density: Approx. 8.89 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Typically around 380 MPa or higher in the annealed condition
Corrosion Resistance: Excellent
Alkali Resistance: Excellent
Machinability: Difficult
Electrical Conductivity: Good
Thermal Conductivity: Good
Ductility: Excellent
Magnetism: Magnetic
Surface Finishes: Polishing, blasting, grinding, plating, etc.
Typical Applications
Nickel 200 is widely used in chemical processing, electronics and electrical systems, food processing, energy, aerospace, and industrial equipment.
Typical parts include electrodes, connectors, terminals, flanges, valve components, pump parts, heat-exchanger components, and corrosion-resistant precision CNC parts.
Advantages
• Excellent resistance to alkaline environments
• Good electrical and thermal conductivity
• Excellent ductility and formability
• Good overall corrosion resistance
• Suitable for applications requiring commercially pure nickel
Limitations
• Tendency to work harden during CNC machining
• Can adhere to cutting tools and accelerate tool wear
• Lower strength than nickel-based superalloys
• Limited suitability for sulfur-containing and certain strongly oxidizing environments at elevated temperatures
