C17200 Beryllium Copper
C17200 is a high-strength beryllium copper alloy capable of achieving very high strength, hardness, and fatigue resistance through solution treatment and age hardening. Compared with pure copper grades such as C101 and C110, it provides a much stronger combination of mechanical performance and electrical conductivity for demanding precision components.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Reddish copper to golden-red
Density: Approx. 8.25 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 1,100–1,400 MPa after age hardening
Electrical Conductivity: Moderate to good
Corrosion Resistance: Good
Machinability: Good
Wear Resistance: Good
Fatigue Resistance: Excellent
Magnetism: Essentially non-magnetic
Heat Treatment: Solution treatment and age hardening
Surface Finishes: Polishing, nickel plating, gold plating, silver plating, etc.
Typical Applications
C17200 Beryllium Copper is widely used in aerospace, electronics, electrical systems, telecommunications, oil and gas, precision instruments, and high-performance industrial equipment.
Typical parts include springs, connectors, electrical contacts, contact pins, spring contacts, precision bushings, valve components, and high-strength conductive CNC parts.
Advantages
• Very high strength and hardness for a copper alloy
• Excellent fatigue and spring properties
• Good combination of mechanical strength and conductivity
• Good corrosion resistance
• Suitable for high-reliability precision components
Limitations
• Relatively high material cost
• Significantly lower conductivity than pure copper grades such as C101 and C110
• Final properties depend strongly on proper heat treatment
• Beryllium-containing dust generated by operations such as grinding or polishing requires strict occupational exposure controls
