WE43 Magnesium Alloy
WE43 is a high-performance rare-earth magnesium alloy primarily containing yttrium, rare-earth elements, and zirconium. It provides excellent elevated-temperature strength, creep resistance, corrosion resistance, and a good strength-to-weight ratio. Compared with conventional AZ-series magnesium alloys, WE43 is better suited for demanding aerospace, defense, and high-end industrial applications.
Appearance & Properties
Color: Silver-white to light gray
Density: Approx. 1.84 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: Approx. 250–330 MPa, depending on condition and heat treatment
Corrosion Resistance: Good to excellent
Machinability: Good
High-Temperature Performance: Excellent
Creep Resistance: Excellent
Weldability: Moderate
Surface Finishes: Chemical conversion coating, anodizing, bead blasting, painting, powder coating, etc.
Typical Applications
WE43 is widely used in aerospace, UAVs, defense, high-performance automotive systems, satellites, and advanced industrial equipment.
Typical parts include aerospace structures, engine-adjacent components, transmission housings, UAV structures, satellite components, high-temperature brackets, and high-performance precision CNC parts.
Advantages
• Excellent elevated-temperature strength and creep resistance
• Good corrosion resistance
• Good strength-to-weight ratio
• Suitable for high-reliability and high-temperature lightweight structures
• Superior performance to many conventional AZ-series magnesium alloys
Limitations
• Relatively high material cost
• Lower availability and fewer stock forms than common magnesium alloys
• More demanding machining and surface-treatment requirements
• Less economical for general low-cost lightweight applications
